Move over wild women and women who do too much: With this irreverent tribute, author Brenda Knight casts a lovingly arch eye at the women who have devoted their lives to books. From Sylvia Beach and other booksellers to librarians, editors, writers, bibliophiles, and celebrated book clubs, Knight takes readers on a ribald ride through the pages of history. Chapter titles include “Prolific Pens” (such as Joyce Carol Oates, author of over 100 books); “Mystics, Memoirists and Madwomen”; “Salons and Neosalons”; “Ink in Their Veins” (literary dynasties); and the titillating “Banned, Blacklisted, and Arrested.”

Question by alicialfisher: What types of “chotchkeys” do travel agents receive from destinations and do they work? I’m curious why types of items travel agents receive from destinations, hotels or resorts and if they work? What gets kept and what gets thrown in the trash?
Answer by Kelly Monaghan In my experience, what suppliers hand out is the usual sort of thing you’d get from any company: post-it note pad, pens, mousepads, mugs, key rings, calendars, etc, etc — all with the supplier’s logo.
I find myself using some of these (post-its, pens) and throwing some out (key rings, calendars).
Now sometimes, when a travel agent attends a supplier promotional or training session, there will be drawing for door prizes and some of those can be quite nice — like trips for instance.
Question by jawahar mitta mohan: How to boot the computers from the pen drive? Some people are saying that we can boot our pen drives. I am having an doubt whether it is possible or not. If it give me the procedure or a brief explanation about how to boot the system from pendrive.
It is possible to install the windows OS from booting the pen drive.
Answer by soneill1986 Plug the pen drive in.
Open the BIOS on bootup, if the BIOS is set up to do it, change the boot order to have the pen drive as the highest priority. Then save changes and it should restart on its own.
Keep the pen drive plugged in and BAM, boot to pen drive.
It’s how you install different OS’s on a lot of netbooks(Provided you don’t have an external CD/DVD drive).

Question by WhatADay: what can i write off on taxes from business? Fiance is starting up his own landscaping business soon. What all will he be able to write off on his taxes?? We are COMPLETELY new to this.. we are just starting to send in for licenses and such. Any info would be appretiated! Thanks in advance!
Answer by Just E the best thing to do is keep receipts for everything you buy for the business even if you don’t think it is important
keep track of all your mileage from when you leave to you get back home that involves business
the tax part is not that hard you can hire a CPA they don’t charge too much to keep the cost down keep recipes stored by month and what is was for 1. equipment (truck, mowers, heavy equipment) 2. supplies (racks shoves gas cans stuff like that) 3. advertisement 4. gas / fuel 5 office supplies (computer, paper, ink, pens, invoices) 6 phones 7. who you paid and how much (if he used help) 8. food (lunch etc) 9. other (things you are not sure about) 10. gross sales
so when you go to a CPA it will cost less since most of the work is done
good luck my husband as his own business
if you want cards very cheap go to http://www.vistaprint.com my husband bought 1500 cards for about .00

Question by fuji: how do you tell the difference from spiccato and stacatto? they are both represented by dots on music so how do you tell. umm. no i mean spicatto, the almost parabolic swing of the bow across a string creating shorter crisper note.
thanks for the info kabum. but I don’t think spicatto is always indicated by spicc. ive certainly seen it marked maybe once or twice in my life. yet conductors always seem to know. is it just a matter of interpretation?
