Move over wild women and women who do too much: With this irreverent tribute, author Brenda Knight casts a lovingly arch eye at the women who have devoted their lives to books. From Sylvia Beach and other booksellers to librarians, editors, writers, bibliophiles, and celebrated book clubs, Knight takes readers on a ribald ride through the pages of history. Chapter titles include “Prolific Pens” (such as Joyce Carol Oates, author of over 100 books); “Mystics, Memoirists and Madwomen”; “Salons and Neosalons”; “Ink in Their Veins” (literary dynasties); and the titillating “Banned, Blacklisted, and Arrested.”

Question by Alexa: Books similar to the Mortal Instruments Series? Hi, I recently finished reading what I now consider my favorite series the Mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare. I am very interested in these kinds of books with Vampires, werewolves, faeries, warlocks etc. I love the uniqueness of this book and it is very well written. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of books similar to these ones. I have already read the Twilight Saga and although the story line is good the writing was terrible in my opinion.
Answer by Rabiah Here Are Some Suggestions, although some don’t have magical creatures in them, they are still considered fantasy!: >The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray >The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (OMG This book is sooooo INTENSE) >Maximum Ride by James Patterson (Just fast paced and enjoyable 🙂 >The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott (If you like Mythology, you’ll really like this one) >The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica by James A. Owen (These Books are AMAZING…if you read alot, you’ll be SURE to like these books)
